Aetna

Blue Cross/Blue Shield

Tufts (Commercial Plans)

Out-of-Network*

I am in-network with the insurance companies listed above. Please verify insurance coverage with me before our first appointment. You will need to call, or check your mental health/behavioral health benefits online, to see if a co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible will be owed. You are ultimately responsible for knowing your insurance plan.

*Out-of-Network benefits. Many insurance companies allow you to see a provider "out-of-network (OON)." This means that you may still be able to see a provider that does not take your insurance if you have OON benefits. Typically, you would be required to pay for sessions out of pocket and then your insurance company would reimburse you a percentage (typically 75-90%). Please call your insurance provider directly for more information. I can provide you with a receipt/superbill if you would like to send it to your insurance company to use your benefits.

Some helpful questions to ask your insurance provider:

  • Do I have mental health/behavioral health insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover? If medically necessary, can my therapist request more?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

  • Do I have a co-pay, co-insurance, deductible, or any other cost-share amount I will have to pay per session?

I want to ensure that mental health services are accessible to everyone, which is why I accept BCBS, Tufts, and Aetna insurance. However, if you are uncomfortable with having certain insurance requirements for your care (such as having a diagnosis on your medical record), paying

out-of-pocket for your therapy sessions provides you with the freedom and privacy to manage your care as you see fit.
